Gitugi ward residents have protested over poor workmanship along Gondo- Kanjahi road in Mathioya.

The residents protested over the poor workmanship on the 6.5 kilometres stretch that goes through Karung’e village, saying the project should be redone.

Irate residents planted bananas along the stretch to display their anger on the rehabilitation of the feeder road connecting villagers with Kangema- Kiria ini road and Gitugi market.

Led by Kamau Ngirigacha, the residents said materials used on the stretch are of low quality thus compromising the standard of the project.

“As the residents served by the road feel betrayed as issues raised on the quality of the project, on the  contractor using sub-standard murram have been ignored,” said Kamau.

They dug a trench  and planted bananas to block trucks  from transporting substandard road construction materials in their area.

The administrators watched from a distance as the residents blocked the improvement of the section.
